Measuring circularity in packaging
How do we measure circularity in PIQET?
The Material Circularity Index (MCI), developed by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, provides a trusted, single-score metric for circularity. This metric integrates seamlessly with LCA data, offering comprehensive insights into packaging design and material use.
In PIQET, circularity reporting dives deeper, presenting all contributing parameters to MCI to pinpoint areas for improvement. These include:
• Material origin: % of virgin, or recycled, or renewable, or remanufactured or reused material
• Longevity: capacity for long-term use
• Performance: capacity for intensive use
• End-of-life: % of reuse, remanufacturing, recycling, compost, energy recovery and landfill
PIQET empowers businesses to assess, compare, and refine their packaging systems for circularity optimization.
