In this partner spotlight, Lifecycles’ Director Tim Grant discusses the crucial role that high-quality data plays in delivering credible and impactful life cycle assessments (LCA). He reflects on Lifecycles’ long-standing relationship with ecoinvent, whose datasets underpins PIQET.

Tim emphasizes that data integrity and transparency are fundamental in LCA, enabling practitioners to confidently compare results and make science-based decisions. He highlights the need for both global datasets and local context, which is why PIQET regionalizes data across 54 regions, tailoring factors like energy grids, land use, water scarcity, waste management, and transport to the geography of each assessment.

He also points to the collaborative relationship between Lifecycles and ecoinvent, working together to improve and adapt datasets for the LCA community. The value of this partnership lies not only in data access but in shared ambitions to make LCA more robust and accessible for decision-makers.
