Paper and Fibre-based packaging insights

PIQET’s Product Developer, Tim Grant, has been selected to speak at the Functional Fibre conference in Rotterdam (10-12th October).

Paper and fiber-based packaging is gaining popularity as the world moves away from single-use plastics and sustainability. Like many other packaging solutions, the supply chain for fiber-based packaging is actively exploring ways to improve its functional barrier properties, durability, and compliance with food-contact safety regulations.

With this in mind, it is important to acknowledge that there will be challenges when considering the entire life cycle of fiber-based packaging.

Tim Grant is scheduled to deliver a presentation at CMT's Functional Fiber-Based Material & Packaging event in Rotterdam from October 10 to 12, 2023, where he will address these challenges in detail. Specifically, his talk will focus on the following key points:

  • Accounting for carbon embodied in fibre products - from production through to end of life

  • How will LCA of fibre change as demand for fibre grows and the world looks to net zero emissions

  • What are the impacts of alternative fibre sources and their implications for the circular economy
